One serious issue that exists in varying degrees in Muslim countries (though it is not at all limited to Muslim countries) is the existence of honour killings. It will make you happy to know more and more men are active opponents of this cultural practice. One is a Kurdish singer from Turkey I met a few years ago. His debut album was called Namus? Namus roughly translating to family honour, that which (according to some customs) is lost when a woman has a relationship without parental permission.
